From my sketchbook: Yum!

I bought an aqua brush a few days ago. I started painting with it the moment I got it in the mail. It's so much fun to use! You can bring it anywhere with you to sketch, all you need is a watercolor palette. I painted my new favorite fruit -grapefruit! Yum, indeed :D

A verse for the year 2012.
Ears to hear and eyes to see - both are gifts from the Lord. {Proverbs 20:12}

From my sketchbook: Honeycomb

I am challenging myself to draw more often this year. It doesn't have to be a really detailed or perfect drawing. It can be of anything, even just a simple sketch like this will do. I'm hoping to get into the habit of drawing on a regular basis, so you will most probably be seeing more sketches like this here on the blog.

Winter this year...

My backyard. Taken before Christmas.

Winter this year has been very different. It only snowed a couple of times and the temperature has been really warm. Well, Minnesotan warm. :) I'm not complaining, though. I am enjoying this weather while it lasts!

Water Lilies

I drew this a few weeks ago as a late birthday gift for a friend. She mentioned before that she loves Claude Monet, so I decided to create something similar to his work. I definitely had a lot of inspiration when making this as Monet is famous for his many paintings of water lilies. I happened to study some of his work in my art history class this semester, so it was neat that I got to apply some of his impressionistic techniques after learning about it. Unlike Monet, however, I had to refer to a photograph instead of creating it en plein air since we're still in the middle of winter
. It was a lot of fun drawing this and I am planning on making more art this year. So be sure to come back and visit my blog! :D
